Amaz{\^o}nia was developed by a joint effort between the
Brazilian Institute for Space Research (INPE) and Indiana State
University (ISU) and co-funded by NASA (National Aeronautic and
Space Administration) and the Brazilian Ministry of Science and
Technology (MCT). More than 1,600 college students are currently
using this educational CD. The first CD has three sessions: (1)
Introduction to Remote Sensing, (2) Preservation and Conservation
Principles, and (3) Amazon Case Studies LBA Examples. The second
CD provides remote sensing and GIS data selected from several
Brazilian ecosystems and different remote sensing satellites.
Results from using similar educational tools indicate that
learning improves due to factors such as higher student
motivation, change of teacher role from sole source of knowledge
to learning mediator, higher knowledge retention due to the
multimedia approach adopted, and higher knowledge transfer among
                         different student learning styles.",
